Hello all, I got a 2012 JKUR and need opinions on this issue. The issue is there seems to be a leak coming from the top area of the transmission. When ever I start the jeep there is this flushing sound coming from the gear shifter area and never heard of it before but now am. Also when I park the jeep after a short drive it seems that the leak starts when I park the jeep and sometimes when the car get to regular operating temps. And last issue to mention is the temp will go over the half line a bit and the fan will kick on. Anyone have any suggestions?!

That's antifreeze leaking, you might check your passenger side carpet to see if it's wet.

Also check your heater hoses to see if there's a leak there. Your going to have to add some antifreeze also because it's low and be sure to put the correct type of antifreeze in.
Indeed my passenger side floor board is wet. Thanks for the input !

I have no clue why, It used to get wet on that side but now it doesn't.

It's usually a leaking heater core, is the liquid a orange color under the carpet? Or more like water, did you check your coolant level in the radiator to see if it's low?

A leaking hardtop will make the floor wet also, so you need to determine what the liquid is.

It's 100% the coolant, I can smell the coolant under the jeep and the skid's have green fluid dripping on the floor. And also the coolant level is low as well. Can the heater core of jeep cause the jeep to go above the temp line a little and cause the fan to kick on ?

Yes the coolant from the radiator goes into the heater core so that you have heat in the Jeep. That is why your engine is running hot because it's probably low on coolant.

So basically the heater hose lines that go to the heater core in the firewall could be leaking ?

The dreaded heater core replacement. $100 do it yourself the easy way (MacGyver) on You Tube, or $1500 the Steelership way. They rip the F out of everything to put in the same new core.

Just to add . That flushing sound you hear at start up . That’s a sign in the Jeep that your low on coolant . Sounds almost like a water fall .
Glad the guys were able to help you fig things out .
I’ve never done heater core in the Jeep but from what I’ve read it’s not the must enjoyable project cause a lot of dash dismantling is involved but a heck of a lot cheaper doing yourself than bringing to dealer as @TROY66/68 wrote .
