I have a 2016, i currently have a 2.5 lift with the stock wheels and tire size on it. I am about to go to a 4” lift and am looking at 20” wheels to put on after the lift. This is my first jeep and i’m having a hard time trying to figure out what side tire i will need and will look good with the lift and wheel size combination. Any help is appreciated!

With a 20" wheel you will want a 37" or bigger tire for it to look right. You'll also need new gears in order to get the tires rolling.

So 33” or so tire is going to look stupid on a 20” wheel with the 4” lift? I’m pretty much brand new to jeeps and after market wheels and stuff.

Well I guess it all depends on if you like the all wheel look and no tire. I guess they call that look Mall Crawler.

What if i kept my 2.5 lift, dropped down from the 20in to 18in wheels which i believe is stock size, and did 35” tires? think that would cause a rubbing issue? i looked at pictures and i like the look and it seems to be a little cheaper but i’d be more worried about rubbing. I don’t do any trails or anything just road driving. i appreciate your patience with me!

You would probably have to put wheel spacers on to keep from rubbing when turning. Do you know what gears your Jeep has?

i believe it’s 3.21. i’m also looking into a -44 offset or something around that for the wheels. I’m not sure if that would fix the rubbing problem or not though.

My Jeep has those gears and had 35" tires on it and that is not a good gear for 35's. You'll need a gear change if you want to do it right.

well i guess i will look into that then and see prices and what exactly i’ll need. thanks for your help dude i really appreciate it!

I have
3.5” lift
20x10 wheels
35x12.50R20 MT tires
-18mm offset
4.75” backspace
No rubbing
Tires are quiet
You do not need 37” tires

last question, hopefully. With my 2.5 lift and i’m wanting your exact wheel and tire sizes, do you think i’d have any rub or should i just do a bigger lift?
I originally had a 2” lift when I put these wheels and tires on and there was a little rubbing and it looked really bad.

35x12.50 tires are a lot bigger then you think. If you’re not doing major off-roading you definitely need at least a 3.25” lift with these size wheels and tires. I would do a 3.5” or 4” lift kit.

I can't remember the offset or anything, but here is a 4 inch lift with 18" wheels and 35" tires for reference. I would not go any less than 3" lift if you're planning on going with 35" tires.
