Just bought a 2012 JK,manual with 55k on it. I have two questions. Should I have buyers remorse since I have seen a lot of info on how this particular year has a lot of problems. Any thoughts or wisdom on that would be appreciated. Also can someone tell me what the two hooks on the rollbar(each side) are for

The hooks (brackets, actually) are for the soft top hardware (bows). See below (not my Jeep)

For your buyers remorse question, are you having any issues? I mean, the vehicle is 12 years old now, and most issues it would have had should have cropped up by now. Don't forget, for every complaint you read on the internet, there are likely dozens who've never had that problem.

My suggestion is enjoy it and if/when you have a problem or question, reach out for help. And don't forget to post pictures of your new ride. We do love our Jeep porn... ;)

Thanks JD for your response. I’m just a little paranoid since my first experience with a jeep was a ragged out 88 YJ. Lots of issues. This one really has been taken care of and looks brand new. I could tell yesterday after taking the top off it had never been taken off before. It’s almost too clean so I’m a little paranoid.

The main issues you'll hear about from that year (and some from JKs in general) are the valve seat recession on the LH head, rocker arm/cam wear, and composite oil filter housing leaks. If it doesn't have an excessively loud tick just watch for oil leaks and then you'll be due for a replacement housing. Seems like 50k or so is when the leak will start popping up...

Oh, and battery clamps. The factory ones are terrible. Before you replace them make sure they are seated all the way down on the battery...

Very nice! Always wanted a red one, haven't gotten one yet. And it looks very clean.

Hit up the resources area to find how to's and you can even enter your VIN to get a window sticker and options listing.

(And a 2 door! we're in the minority so love seeing another one!)

Thanks. Didn’t know about the resource area and get the window sticker. I paid 15.9 k which in our area seemed to be a good deal. Thanks J D and tjkrider for the great input. Again I joined today and appreciate the info.
