Hi All,

I have just joined the fold because I have a 2018 LWB JK coming from Japan. I am coming from previous 4x4 experience mostly with G wagen’s and a land cruiser.

In anticipation of the JK arriving I would like some advice regarding the odometer. It will be showing kms and I wish to have this changed to miles. Is this possible without needing to take the car to someone with specialist software?

Any help people can offer would be greatly received.

Welcome to the forum! Load some pictures when it arrives.

I am not sure of the options, but if it has the display where you can thumb through options can probably change it in there. The steering wheel would need to have the buttons on the left side. Another option is Jscan with a BT OBDII adpater will probably be able to update the settings. Overall it is a great app with a lot of features.

I checked my 2015 this morning. There's an option for U.S. and Metric but it did not change my odometer from miles to kms. I can check my Jscan later and see if there's an option to change it that way.

Oh and welcome to the forum!

But does it change the display where the miles are shown. I don’t think it will change the dash display as each MPH and km/h is shown.

No. Miles stayed miles. I also tried Jscan but couldn't find anything to change from miles to km for the odometer.

Hi folks. Thanks very much for taking a look and see what can be done with JScan. I wonder whether this means that I’ll be stuck with kms the whole time. I have imported 3 other cars from Japan but they were all german cars and were relatively easy to change. Photo of the steering wheel showing the buttons. I haven’t had a Jeep before and as such it will all be a learning curve.

Well, after a long wait the Wrangler is here. Other than a couple of dings on the front and rear bumper, it is great condition. The first evening after having the car delivered I set to work cleaning the interior. In so doing I found some Japan branded wet wipes and some dark red lipstick! make of that what you will! This spurred me on to clean and feed the leather as well as shampoo the carpets. The result of which is a more or less new car inside. After this I treated the bumpers with autoglym plastic care which has brought back the bumpers to a great dark black.

Then, yesterday I was MOT time which it passed with no advisories. The guys at the test centre know me well know since I use them half a dozen times a year or more. As such, they are happy for me to stay and poke around under the car. Needless to say, it was very clean underneath. Towards the top of my list of things to do is to underseal the car with Dinitrol 77B which I will do before the car is registered and able to be driven on the UK roads. Also, I have a replacement stubby radio aerial, some Philips LED bulbs for the headlightsm and a set of rubicon wheels.

I have been trying to obtain a certificate of conformity which is a regulation for any car that is younger than 10 years old. If anyone has a contact that can expedite this then I’m all ears. So far I have obtained the name, number and email address for someone who never answers my calls or emails despite sending through the required documentation! This basically means that I am in limbo and cannot get the ball rolling with registering the car and using it here until I have the CoC.

Anyway, frustrations aside, I have had some time to go round and change the wheels to the rubicon wheels and for each corner I have applied Dinitrol 77B to protect the chassis from the salty roads we have here in the UK during the winter months.

Next on the list (when it gets above freezing again) is to crawl underneath and finish off the rest of the chassis.
