Has anyone else had an issue with the engine oil cooler unit failing
Mine failed at 87k, pumped all the engine oil into the cooling system
Ended up putting a 2nd hand engine in from a wrecked demo Wrangler
Looking to see if this is a common issue with the 3.6 petrol engines

The week this happened I was making calls to work out the option on what to do.
I heard nightmare stories about how many Wranglers were get engine rebuilds or replacement engines.
At least 5 including mine, all in Perth, WA Australia

Any symptoms before it failed?
Mine has a slight smoke at the canister location (passenger side) during hot summer times but I have been ignoring it.

Happened on my sisters Chrysler Town & Country minivan as well, which also uses the 3.6 Pentastar. Go figure!

Wow! Yes, but not like your failure. My '14 had the housing crack. I noticed it not long after I bought it. It was "certified used" so the dealer covered it. My symptoms were drips of oil around the bellhousing. Upon looking further (I used an inspection camera), I could see oil in the valley underneath. The dealer told me that the oil filter cap would get tightened too much and crack the housing, causing the issue. @Oscar-Mike I'd check the valley with a clean wooden dowel and see if any oil is pudding.

Needless to say, I've been very careful doing oil changes.
