The other day I was rear ended at a traffic light . My spare tire and spare mount took the brunt of it . Hitch receiver punched through his rad and the spare crumpled his hood pretty bad. Question, the plastic mount is cracked most of the way around. Is there something else holding the spare on and should I be concerned about losing the spare before it gets to the body shop for an estimate . I will be going in a couple of days and am being more careful about bumps and potholes. Thx

It's a bit wobbly but still feels fairly sturdy. I can get it looked at Wed. morning but if it's longer I'll have to take it off . The shop will probably have to take it off anyway. The gate has a good crease in it too.

Take the spare off before it takes itself off and then your liable for the damages your spare caused.

The odds are much greater the spare could fall off under normal road vibration conditions than you getting a flat and needing that spare.

If you really feel like you need the spare, take it off the mount and toss it in the back for the time being.

Agree 100% with this!
