I believe the AL at the end indicates a newer version of the same part.

Yep, one is simply the newer version (AL).

nah man i'd just call mopar directly, they can tell you in like 2 minutes. i've had part numbers that looked different but were the same thing. could be year specific or something. what engine you running?
