Dana 30 3.73 front axle housing

Wrangler JK dana 30 3.73 front axle. I have a small leak in my front axle. My mechanic says there’s a small fracture in the axle. If I order a brand new axle its 4k. Any ideas or websites you guys know about to get a used axle or something cheaper than a brand new stock??? Please help guys

You'll find D30 JK takeoffs all over CL and FB. Usually pretty cheap.

I'd find a reasonably priced one and it should be a bolt on replacement.

Me personally I'd pull it apart, replace the inner axle seals and hubs and inspect and clean everything.

Gotta watch for bent axles too.

Do you do any offroading or have 35" tires or larger? If so you might as well upgrade to a D44 front axle.

Have him show you where the leak is so you can give us a picture of the leak.

If you end up needing a replacement, start with salvage yards. D30's are relatively cheap. Most people want the stronger D44 or D60. And honestly, if you're replacing one anyway, it's a good time to upgrade.
