Hey all,

On my 2017 JK there's a 2 pin connector for the alternator, and I managed to snap off the clip on the alternator itself. I've found plenty of advice on replacing the 2 pin pigtail, but nothing on what to do with this problem short of replacing the alternator.

Stock photo below. The small retaining clip between the two fins is gone.

Only potential solutions I can think of are:
1) using some tape or zip ties to secure it to the alternator housing or
2) drill a small hole where the tab used to be, then use a small, watch-style screw to keep it in place.

Yeah I've got tape on there for now, but switching to zip ties and clamping it down is likely the move. Thanks!

Another alternative would be to cut some slits in the wire-side connector and then use a small hose clamp on that to "squeeze" the wire-side connector onto the alternator. This of course would be modifying a part that ISN'T broken, but would likely solve the issue as well.

Of course there's the obvious, just buying a new alternator :) I see lots of Jeep part outs near me. I'd imagine if you had similar in your area you could pick up a new one for ~$40 or so.
