I’m in the process of building my electrical cables for two vehicles and a trailer to power a hitch mounted winch. I’m using #2AWG cable and bought Anderson connectors compatible with #2. However, the connectors are rated at 175 amp and my winch may draw 500+ amps. It appears that Anderson connectors only go up to a 450 amp rating (model # is actually 350). Maybe this sounds like a dumb question but do I for sure need to only use connectors rated all the way up to my highest expected amperage under load?

The 175 is the CSA rating. They are UL rated at 280 amps. These have been used on winches successfully for years now as the loads are intermittant.
