Hello! Just purchased a 2016 Unlimited Altitude. Looking to add a 3” lift. Wanted recommendations on a kit/brand. Also I am curious on how long the average mechanical person takes to install the kit. Planning on doing 35” tires, KO2s on my current 18” rims. Jeep is a daily driver, light off road driving, not much around me to do rock crawling. From what I understand, I’ll need spacers for the tires also.

Thanks!

A 3" lift will be more money you'll need adjustable control arms and adjustable track bars front and rear. Flat top fenders would be cheaper and give you the clearance for the tires.

Depending on what gears your Jeep has you could have to regear for the 35's, also you'll need to recalibrate your speedometer.

I’m not interested in the flat top fenders. So if I go with just a 2.5” lift, the control arms are not needed?

2" to 2.5" the control arms are not, but still need the adjustable track bars. If you have a heavy front bumper and a winch on the front you could probably go with a 3" lift and not have the adjustable control arms.

Every lift kit is different some 3" lifts could only give you a 2" lift.

We have the 2.5” AEV lift on two JKU’s been very happy with them. We netted a little over 3” on each with after market bumber on one and winch on each one. Also have engine and transmission skid plates. As blackjku says a 3” lift will add additional cost and mods.

On our lift we didn’t add the geometry correction brackets and haven’t had any issues yet.
