2015 jk goes dead while driving and there is a trai of what looks like oil or trans on the ground but a smell of gas?? Any ideas??

Try to find out where the trail of fluid starts, possibly a bad fuel line.
You should be able to tell if the fluid is oil, transmission fluid, or gas pretty easily...
Oil is brownish-tan (assuming you change it properly). Transmission fluid is red (again, assuming you change it properly). Regular gasoline is greenish-blue.
Gas also feels completely different if you get some on a finger and rub them together, because the other two are both lubricants.
A bad fuel line could, as @BLACKJKU indicated, cause your fuel pressure to drop and the engine to die, especially under heavy load.
