I think the biggest cost other than the radio itself is the unit that allows the controls on the steering wheel to interface with the new radio. Those are in the 100 to 150 price range it seems. It essentially translates the data from the steering wheel into values that the radio is able to use...

Could it be the door for the air intake into the cabin for the HVAC closing? That makes a whooshing sound a few seconds after the engine shuts off.

I just replaced the brake and back-up lights with LED bulbs and did not need the resistors for the brake lights. The LEDs did not work for the backup lights, however. I haven't tested the voltage yet to determine why the backups only work with regular bulbs.
