Hard Top Buddy - or similar… who has one?

Yes, the JK has been “acting right” since the harness rebuild. Hopefully that resolved the problems!

Hard Top Buddy - or similar… who has one?

If I made one, it would largely just be used here at the house, but my idea would be to design one using something like this type of “folding” engine hoist configuration: Obviously the hydraulic lift setup above isn’t intended to work like the winch on the previous types, so it would need to...

Hard Top Buddy - or similar… who has one?

That's why it would need to have a base with "legs" like an engine hoist, that you push under the vehicle. That eliminates the imbalance created by the weight of the top being at the end of the arm, as it would then be almost directly above the center of the base.

Hard Top Buddy - or similar… who has one?

That's closer to the setup that I would want, but it still seems overpriced, by quite a bit. I can buy a used engine hoist for under $100, and that would give me the base and the arm. I can increase to the vertical height pretty cheaply, and an inexpensive electric winch can be found at Harbor...

Hard Top Buddy - or similar… who has one?

From what it looked like on the video, the part that goes into the hitch could be replaced by a set of wheeled legs/frame (think engine hoist base) so long as it was tall enough. It wouldn't need to swivel since you can pull it straight back and/or drive the Jeep forward if it isn't connected to...

Hard Top Buddy - or similar… who has one?

The wife found a product called Hard Top Buddy on FB and I’m somewhat intrigued. The idea of being able to easily remove the top at a destination instead of before going there seems like a good plan. Anyone here use one, see one in use, or recommend other brands/options to check out? I’m...

what is the white corrosion under mirrors?

Remove the mirror, then clean the area under the plastic cover & replace the gasket and move on to the next issue.

What did you do to your JK today?

That looks great! I actually like it better than mine, but I wont ever put a winch on this vehicle; that upgrade would be better suited on our TJ that still has stock bumpers to play with anyway...

What did you do to your JK today?

My zip ties w/ the Christmas tree fittings arrived yesterday, so today I replaced the ones that were broken or missing to help keep the wire harness where it belongs. This thing had better appreciate the effort that I've put into it.

2013 JK 3.6 Low Oil Pressure Light Intermittent

I'd be willing to bet that the sender isn't bad, but the wiring at the connector has dried out, become brittle, and there are now exposed conductors that are shorting together under certain conditions, such as when the engine gets hot, vibrations due to terrain, etc. I chased this type of...

What did you do to your JK today?

I finished the reassembly and drove it. No codes or issues so far w/ the original ECU, but I've been here before. I might have solved it by replacing the oil pressure connector. I probably avoided untold future problems by replacing the brittle injector plugs while I had it apart. All I know...

New to me Jeep, came with some problems

I bought an exceptionally clean, high-mileage 2015, that had been babied… driven, but taken care of. Since then I’ve been constantly throwing money and wrenches at it to keep it running. By far, the least reliable vehicle I have ever owned, and that’s a pretty big list. Good luck with whatever...

Question about buying a non running JK

This thread title had me wondering if my wife had finally come to her senses and listed our 2015!😂😂😂😂

Max tire size for stock 17 wheels Unlimited 4 door

I used JL wheels and the 285/70-17's on our 2015 Rubicon w/o a lift. I had to install spacers on the bolts are the stops as at full lock I was getting a slight rub on the sway bar. Adding the spacers reduces the turning rotation SLIGHTLY, but not enough to be an issue in normal driving conditions.

Replacement wire harness for injectors, oil sensor, etc.

This is what I found as a possible root cause in the aforementioned video. Here’s our Jeep getting torn down. Here is the same connector on our oil pressure sensor with the same exposed conductors as in the video. I’m SO glad that I kept digging! BTW, these would be called “sending units”...

What did you do to your JK today?

I have felt like giving up on this Jeep so many times that I've honestly lost count, but the realization of how much $$ we would lose right now (as-is) using it as a trade or a even a private sale has inspired my interest in finding a repair. Today I started really searching for fixes. I saw a...

What did you do to your JK today?

Absolutely not… I got rid of those stamped tin clamps as soon as I discovered the ground had worn a groove all the way around the battery post and had intermittent contact. I have “full grip” clamps, and they are tight. Cable connections to the clamps are also tight w/o corrosion, etc. Battery...

What did you do to your JK today?

Ok, here’s where I’m at now. First off, ZERO complaints w/ Wrangler Fix. Cruising along on the freeway and the lightning bolt & CEL illuminated; pulled to shoulder and checked codes. All of the previous codes were again present. Cleared the codes and headed towards the next exit. Codes...

What did you do to your JK today?

I drove it around under various conditions and am happy to report that the patient has survived the procedure and is displaying evidence of a complete recovery. Thanks, @WranglerFix! I'm going to take it to the office tomorrow since I need to go in. At least if it does break down, it won't hurt...
