Any benefits to a JK over a JL?

I heard the JL doors are lighter. The JK doors are HEAVY, with no handle in the right place to make it easier to mount and dismount.

    Backup lights Manual Trans

I took the jeep to a mechanic for spark plugs and oil changes and fix backup light problem. They replaced the switch (way on top of the transmission) but the lights still on in neutral and forward gears. They said the transmission would have to be opened to find the problem. My solution is to...

Where can I purchase replacement parts for this rust?

That jeep must have lived on the beach and salt water if it is a Mexico native. Looks like some galvanized sheet steel and a welder would be the best bet. A good Tin Knocker would know how to fix that better than new. Don

Advice on rust spots on body

You (or a professional) would have to crawl under that thing checking all the nooks and crannies. Pull the carpets to check inside. Examine the jack area and door frames. Unless the price is great it would be a pass. For that rust on a JK it must have been operated in a salt mine. Don

Advice on rust spots on body

For Orange you pay a premium??? Be sure to test all the buttons and knobs. I paid $13k for mine a couple years ago with 100K on the clock. Dealer gave me 100% 30 day guarantee and replace windshield, radio, and a few other things before I signed off. Edit: make sure the TPMS is reporting tire...

    Electrical issue

Check the battery cables at both ends before spending money. Flickering is usually a bad connection. Don Edit" A volt/ohm reader might help. First check battery for ~12.7 volts. second check from the negative post to the engine, should be very near 0 ohms.

Is my tire screwed from this nail?

Just grab some plyers and yank it out. Or leave it as a conversation piece. But leaving it in has a 1 in a1000000 chance of actually puncturing the tire when you scrape a curb. That looks to be the 1 in a 1000000 nail. Don

    The Road to Uwharrie

My 306l with 7.21 gearing sometimes request 5th gear when facing a strong head wind when driving below 60 mph. You are not in Kansas any more when you climb the Appalachians and I would not expect to hit 6th if not on a 4 lane. Don

    Looking to buy first Wrangler

Before buying my JK, I searched for a not rust TJ to replace mine that has body rot. Looked at about 20. All where massacred with "improvements". If you can find one unmolested you will have a fine vehicle that will last almost forever. But don't expect over 16 mpg.

Meyer HomePlow Basic Snow Plow 23250/31432

I plow with a snow bear. been plowing my 400 foot rough drive for 20 years This year I hooked it up to my 2013 JK using a front trailer hitch. Using a draw tight front trailer hitch was too much for the hitch. The plow kept getting lower and lower. I welded the hitch tube back to the bracket...

I may have become one of them...

I quite often use the heater or AC with the top down and doors off on my 2013 and it still helps to cut the edge of too warm or cold. With just the panels off I would think AC would make a big difference on comfort level in the station wagon.

What did you do to your JK today?

His shop is about 20 miles away. I need to get an appointment to resolve misc P codes in my Dodge Dakota. I think it is a wiring or ground problem that he is proud of being able to resolve. Today installed "Walker Exhaust 55700 Exhaust Resonator and Pipe Assembly" on my 2013. Once I lowered one...

    When to use 4 Hi

What I always liked about 4 wheel drive is that it allowed me to go slower. Less need for momentum. Less spinning and rocking to get moving. 4 low is for super control, like going down a steep slippery hill where avoiding the brakes is a good idea. Or when slow navigation is required. Or when...
