    Stiff Clutch

I got a factory one put in (Luk), but my mechanic did it for about $400 or $500 less than the factory. For my on/off road driving, I believed it was sufficient and would last another 100k+ miles like the original.

    Stiff Clutch

I'd definitely get a professional opinion and get ahead of it if your clutch or TOB is going out, just in case it decides to go out on you in the middle of nowhere. Could be something else, but all the manual JKs I've driven, where the clutch is good/new, they weren't stiff. And, a clutch can...

    Weird stalling question.

Mine does the same thing. 2007. I blip the gas a little when that happens now and it's fine. Sometimes my battery/charging light will turn on and stay on, even if it doesn't stall. I just turn it off and on again.

    Stiff Clutch

When I first bought my 07 JKU with 118k mi, the Jeep had sat for a while. The clutch was stiff. After driving it a couple of weeks, the throw out bearing crapped out (you could see the ball bearings from the holes in the bell housing drain gaps. Don't want to scare you, but I think my clutch...

Front crank seal? Easy mechanic job?

@Cresron: Thanks for the insight. Damn seals! @Vman: he had a bolt with washers to press the balancer onto the shaft. Just get it done at the dealer. The local Jeep dealer would've done it for $160. Id just rather pay my small business mechanic. He just stresses me out at times, but he's a...

Front crank seal? Easy mechanic job?

First: I love my mechanic. He's been doing a good job and treating me well as hell for 15yrs. I even consider the proximity of his shop when I look at a future house to buy. He's been around for at least 25 yrs, with another friend going to him for that long. But, he said he hasn't done a front...

    Front crankshaft seal brand

Thank you. Good to know, I think I'll get it and give it a whirl. Felpros have always been good for my Chevys and I'd use it for my Jeep's oil pan if/when it goes.

    Front crankshaft seal brand

Going to replace the front crank seal in my 07 JKU/3.8. Has anyone used this Felpro 46194 for their front crank seal replacement? I've used Felpro in an intake and oil pan on a different vehicle with good luck, but wanted to make sure this was a good brand for our Jeeps. It's on the...

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

That is an option and probably what I'll do. But, that's not gonna be as fun 😊.

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

I agree with you on 35s. I'd be a bit gunshy to run 37s later if I got more lift tho... I don't want to put unneeded stress on those D30 axles. Hopefully, my motor will be ok spinning at 3300 for a few hours at 4 to 5 times a year during trips.

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

Yeah, I found some used 35s with good tread and wheels for pretty cheap in my local classifieds. Maybe I'll get those to run on long trips and swap back to 33s when not road tripping.

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

Final answer: 4.56 gears, 6 speed manual, Falken AT3 285/70r17 (just under 33") tires on my 3.8 is....... 3300 RPM at 80mph. SH!T! I'm gonna get rocks thrown at me, but I should've just got 4.10 gears. I wanted keep these 33"s and to be near 2500-2700 RPM at 80mph. Im gonna hate running...

    Ninja Grille?

Just browsing thru the local classifieds and saw this 2015 or 16 Wrangler listed by the local Porsche dealership. I don't want to be mean, because to each his own... But it's at a dealership - so, game on. NEVER SEEN THIS KIND OF GRILL BEFORE - this takes the Angry Eye grills to another level...

Newbie, lessons learned on a road trip with the 3.8 with 6-speed manual and soft top

COMPARATIVE UPDATE 1.5 YRS LATER: 1. SOFT TOP: I actually bought a new (used) one. Found one on a local classifieds and just wanted the stock TINTED windows. The guy only wanted $50 for the top (YES-$50). My plan was to offer him $50 for the windows and he could keep the rest. I arrived and saw...

New member having way too much fun!

Welcome, from Utah (but Salt Lake)! You're lucky to live down there. I can't believe I turned down a job in St. George last year 😬. You'll love having a Jeep living down there. If you have a day, try (if you haven't yet... Valley of Fire and that area around. Good times. I'm sure you've been...

4.56 too much for 3.8 and manual?

OK... just picked up the JK from the shop with the new 4.56 gears. I'm still easy on the throttle for the break-in...but damn - with the Pedal Commander on, it's a noticeable difference from 3.21 to 4.56. I'm a little hesitant to get on the throttle, due to break-in for the gears, so I'll...
