It's just bad practice to mix treads. At a minimum, in small ways you will have different amount of grip from that corner. Also, the size is going to be slightly different removing the option of 4 wheel drive or you risk breaking something.

The pass side for the 3.8 is a bit of a pain, but still vastly easier than the 3.6 where you have to take the top of the engine off to change the plugs. In general, working on the 3.8 is so much easier than the 3.6.
