Oil filter / oil cooler replacement recommendations?

You're probably thinking of the Dorman oil cooler, a popular swap for people with 3.6s.

    JL 392 wheel investigation

392s are just too... Flashy. Like they belong on a rice burner or show truck.

    Brake Work Gone Bad

This is why I never use quick oil change places for anything. I know Jiffy Lube has been pushing they do brakes now for the past decade but if I wouldn't trust them with something as simple as draining oil, I wouldn't trust them with brakes.

    Coming up on 200k

I feel it's a little different now with all the telemetry built into cars nowadays. I don't even think a JL can function if you remove the infotainment unit. I know you have the solder the modem out on them to keep out the worst of the tracking. Just shit I don't want to deal with hence why I'll...

    Coming up on 200k

I'm keeping my JK until the frame is no longer able to support a drivetrain. If and when that happens, I'm not getting a shithouse JL or anything newer than that. Just my feelings on that subject.

If my Jeep wasn't also a daily, I'd agree with you but since it's part time off roader instead of full, I can't justify that price. I'm a big fan of going fast as much as the next guy but I can't let my inner teenager run wild on this.

    Coming up on 200k

The seals and gaskets are definitely going to fail eventually. In fact I've already done a gasket replacement a couple years ago and that did stop my leaks. I've never had any issues with internal engine components thankfully, not even timing chain issues I read that can pop up as early as 50k...

    Coming up on 200k

I don't think my 3.8 requires that intense a rebuild, it's very well taken care of and that seems more like something you'd do to a Pentastar :ROFLMAO:. None the less, I do thank you for the advice and it does give me something to consider. I was thinking all the seals, fuel injectors, timing...

    Coming up on 200k

So my '07 is approaching 200k on the original miles, I want to start stockpiling parts for a engine overhaul. Besides the obvious tune up stuff like plugs, wires, PCV, what should I get?

What did you do to your JK today?

Ordered a new Optima red top and some Safari Straps cargo netting so I can take my dogs on adventures with me. Gonna start saving for a re-gear now.

    Replacement Soft Top Source?

Another vote for Bestop. I've also heard Smittybilt is alright. My Bestop has been through several winters and really the only thing I had to replace is the real window because of extreme temperature changes on the vinyl.

    Jasper vs LKQ remanufactured engine

I can only give you anecdotal evidence but when I replaced the engine in my 2000 Blazer it was with a LKQ. It ran beautifully and I traveled cross country with it without issue. Honestly wish I had kept that vehicle.

Looking for a winch and lights

In all honesty, if all you want is a "for looks" winch, buy one of those dubious cheap Amazon ones and mount it but never hook it up.
