Replacement protective sleeve for synthetic winch rope

Thanks. Seems like those are a bit lesser on the heavy duty scale.

Replacement protective sleeve for synthetic winch rope

I've been using my winch a considerable amount, and the synthetic rope was on it when I bought it. The protective sleeve is pretty hammered and chewed. I'd like to replace it to help prolong the life of the cable. Smittybuilt sells 1 but it seems kind expensive at $30 for what it is. Any...

How do I tell the difference between steel and alloy rims?

Judging by the pic, seeing how thick the material is at the holes I'd bet that they are alloy.

How do I tell the TPMS that 30-32 psi is normal so the low tire pressure warning doesn't come on?

I prefer that my hand held ga be the benchmark. I have more faith in my MOTION PRO DIGITAL than any TPS. That being said, I leave it at home. I carry this for off-road.

    Playin in the 1st snow

My comment was relative to Spring Creek/Elko Nevada. I have lived in the mountains all my adult life. South Lake Tahoe where a snowfall was measured in multiple feet. West slope of the Sierra's famous for its Sierra cement. The panhandle of Idaho near CdA. We ended up getting a foot and a...

    Playin in the 1st snow

This afternoon my wife had a Dr. Appt. It's been snowing off and on today so I offered to drive her. Grabbed my girl Cota (Airedale) and we hopped in Roxy. Dropped off the wife and Cota and I headed into the nearby hills. Cota likes to run the trails, so she led the way. For an hour we played...

    First Off-Road Jeep

Worked on the passenger front shock yesterday. My year has some funky plastic tray that limits access to the top shock mount. Dont know if this is on all years. It made it more difficult to get to the nut, so I broke out the body saw and trimmed a bunch out. That was the worst part of the job...

    First Off-Road Jeep

The fronts were a bit more work. The lower mount bolt sleeve was siezed on the bolt. Despite all my initial attempts, I eventually had to break out the cut off wheel and cut the shock off and then the bolt/sleeve. I ran out time for the passenger side. Thats todays project.

The new shocks showed up yesterday. Much better than the unknown old ones. Thicker shaft and they actually have some life in them. Got the rears installed after straightening out the brackets.

No cruise control plus ABS, & traction control lights on at same time after hitting a pot hole

My 2012 w 86K does the same thing. No codes regarding wheel sensors. If I cycle the ignition, it resets. After a few cycles it resets the warning lights.

To be clear, you mean the mounts on the chassis?

    First Off-Road Jeep

Our offroading doesn't include much rock crawling. Our previous TJ only had 2" lift with 33" KO's. It did the trick for us. There really was only 1 time that we needed a bit more lift. Honestly, our budget for mods is somewhat limited at this time. Too many other irons in the proverbial fire...

Agreed. But how do I figure that number when in the shop? I need to get a number for proper shock size.

    First Off-Road Jeep

I had noticed awhile back that there was a clanking noise from the rear. Thats when I found that both the rear shock bushings were completely gone, leaving only the sleeve. i put in replacement bushings and Torqued the mount bolts to 40 ft lb. Looking at the mount tab and seeing the 2 bolts...

I have measured the compressed and extended length of the current shock Obviously the extension isn't enough. But I'm also worried about the compressed length. So far, I haven't been able to find a shock with similar dimensions.
