    203 degree thermostat?

Higher operating temperatures lead to a slight increase in the risk of detonation (it's also called premature ignition, but if you say things like that around car guys, the conversation gets off track really quickly because we're all 12 years old in our hearts.). Detonation is bad. As in...

What did you do to your JK today?

So I think Mrs Dogs transmission was probably bad for a fair bit. It was stuck in 2nd, so it took a fair bit of throttle to get moving. She had apparently had time to get used to that, because her first time out of the driveway with the new one, she spun a tire.

It was sunny and 50F here in Colorado today. Finished up the Converter/Transmission replacement for Mrs Dogs JKUR. At this point, the only things I haven't replaced are the axles and interior.

What did you do to your JK today?

I let it sit in the garage, transmission-less. Had some stuff come up that prevented me from starting the install. Still hope to have it back on the road by the end of the week though. On the up side, the weather has been quite warm for December - 60F today - so I'm still able to drive the Vette.

Pulled the transmission out of the 2011. New one arrives tomorrow.

There is a recall for the airbags in 2010-2016 Wranglers. Has yours been done?

    Random loss of electrical power

I did. Nothing in it indicates if they're still using the OEM clamps. Just that they're "new".

    Random loss of electrical power

And, as always with any JK electrical problem, replace the crappy OEM battery clamps.

What did you do to your JK today?

Well, it was bound to happen. Jeepers, Mrs Dogs JKUR, has broken the transmission. It is stuck in 2nd. What junk! It's only got 208,000 miles on it! So I've ordered a new transmission.

What did you do to your JK today?

We had a good snow storm last week. And as I always do, I posted on the neighborhood Facebook page that if people get stuck, they can message me. If I'm available, I'll come pull them out. Because a tow truck will take hours and cost a couple body parts. One poor lady thought it was dry enough...

    Method beadgrips

Interesting. I never had any problems, and that Jeep did some gnarly stugg.

    Method beadgrips

My favorite bead locks of all time were the Staun internal bead locks. Not sure why they've never caught on. I ran them on a V8 swapped YJ running 40's. You can go clear down to zero PSI with those and still not pop a bead.

    Method beadgrips

I've never used that brand. But if you're building for tough trails, get real bead locks. The method bead grip is intended to keep the wheel from spinning within the tire. They really don't do much to prevent the bead from coming off.

Recommended product to restore black trim and fender flares

I don't think I missed it, I think I just disagree with your suggestion that "most" apply too thin a coating. I certainly haven't got experience with "most" manufacturers, but of the ones I have used, the coatings have been very well done. I have no doubt that there are cheapo manufacturers with...

Recommended product to restore black trim and fender flares

I have bought three sets in recent years. They've all come powder coated. Which is much better than paint.

While you've got them off, replace them with metal flares. Problem solved. :)

Quiet aftermarket exhaust for 2012 Wrangler JK

I'll be odd man out here. I had the Flowmaster Outlaw on my JK. And now this. And there's always this.

    Bolt / nut problems

It's likely rust welded, and you may well need to grind it off. If you can get a wrench on the inner nut, you might be able to weld a star bit to the bolt head and break it lose. I suspect replacing the nut will be a major PITA. I wonder if a nutsert would work?

Antifreeze temp rarely gets over 175

Stock thermostat for the 3.8L engine opens at 210. Changing to a 180 is fine, and running the engine cooler can be a good thing. To really make a difference, the fans also need to be programmed to come on at 180. Even lower thermostats are available; I run a 165 in the Vette. The ECM expects the...

Added some graphics. I'm still deciding what else to put on. I think those huge flat panels make a good sport for graphics.
