If I remember correctly you can pull up on the yellow IOD fuse in the TIPM and it bypasses the Security System.

How about swapping the starter relay with another one in the TIPM?

Have the grounds been cleaned and maybe add another to the engine block.

I's not the torque converter that causes it, the solenoid that locks and unlocks the TQ is what causes the problem.

Does your Jeep have a auto trans? If so some of the years of Jeeps had a issue with the transmissions Torque Converter staying locked in to long and causing the engine to get hot. That issue would happen at highway speeds since the TC locks in after OD. I'd take it to a good trans shop before...

You said that you can smell it and the coolant jug is overfilled, you can get a test kit to check for combustion gases in the coolant.

Well the next thing that will cause that is a bad head gasket. I'd raise the front up again and check to see if there's anymore air trapped in it.

Did you burp all the air out of the cooling system, is the cooling fan kicking on high when it's running hot?

There has been problems with the neutral start switch that's in the trans, with it not wanting to start when it's hot could show that. Might also talk to a transmission shop about that.

How many cats does the 3.8 engine use, I have 2 cats? My Jeep had shorty headers on it when I bought it and a hacked up dual exhaust so what I put on was a great improvement.

He could have bought long tube headers and high flow cats for that price.

So are those Cats the same as OEM if not he could get downstream O2 CEL's and have to get O2 foolers like I did.

IOD is in the fuse box in the TIPM, Google the IOD it kinda sounds like your issue. No idea on the charger, but wouldn't think so. Glad to hear I had a good idea for a repair for you. But it helped to figure the problem since I had it also with the o2's.
