My first Wrangler: What sort of things do I need to be aware of?

Yes, they burn oil, and even with no leaks. Funny, I've seen some say "Use Synthetic, it'll stop it" and some say "use conventional, it'll stop that" Ha. Lots of folks hate the 3.8, but I've got it and it is what it is. Change oil regularly, and check in between. My son didn't (he's 17...

My first Wrangler: What sort of things do I need to be aware of?

Looking at your profile, did the PO do an engine swap? The 08 (I have one) came with a 3.8L V6. People say that engine sucks, maybe, but it’s been nothing but decent to my son and it has 2” lift 1”BL and 35” BFG MTRs. Other than gearing needs upgrade, it runs solid Pay attention to the...

Looking to buy my first Jeep

M1A is the Springfield civilian rifle version of the M14 right? I was talking firearm, I put a NightForce on a LaRue Tactical AR10 in 6.5 Creedmoor, can send 3 down range at 500 before first impact. Pretty fun , ha.

Looking to buy my first Jeep

Sounds like fun! 30.06 (7.62 mm) with an M14 is classic. You wouldn’t put a $4,000 NoghtForce on one though, ha

Looking to buy my first Jeep

I can buy new, I just don’t. On my F150 and BMW I get 1 year old under 15k miles, usually under 10. Saves about 20-22% off, and that’s just me. Funny, I’ll spend 7-8k on a rifle build With a crazy expensive NightForce on top, but can’t buy a new car anymore off the lot. My close friend...

Lemon law isn't something that is a part of the contract, I don't believe, but hell I never read a dealership contract. In your state, Virginia, that statute will have more informaiton. https://www.oag.state.va.us/consumer-protection/15-tips/158-lemon-law I don't know Virginia, but in Texas...

    Pop / bind noise

Only think I would say.....if they did the work, and if it really looks like a U Joint, I'd give them 1 chance to fix it (on their dime), but that's just me. If they put in new shafts, but put old U joints (that would annoy me) but it's possible something is just wrong with that one.....and if...

    Pop / bind noise

I hear you, but the U joint needs to be fixed either way, so if you get that done, if that's not the issue it helps narrow down. If it's slight, as you say, those tend to only show slightly, under certain circumstances, so may be you caught it before it started doing a lot more. One question...

    Pop / bind noise

No, there shouldn't be play in the u joints. I wouldn't delay on that either, those go and it can cause more problems. I haven't replaced them on my JK, but on my TJ I put in Spicer in my D30. They have beefier ones than OEM I believe, all the U Joints I get are Spicer...

    Pop / bind noise

If you can hear a click when turning it by hand, then you should be able to isolate and see where it is easily? What exactly is clicking? Is it inside your front differential? I guess I'm not following. I would ask first if you have a front locker? If you do and it's locked, you will get...

JScan with a Bluetooth OBDII connector

Don't confuse using Bluetooth with radio on this. The OBDII port is how you pull data from the Jeep computer. I bought a small adapter from the link below that @Chris suggest. 1. You plug this into the OBDII port. 2. You download the JSCAN app. 3. You connect (via bluetooth) to the adapter...

Best way to repair dent in front bumper?

Okay, so wait. Is that a plastic cover? I saw the pic and assumed it was some sort of metal....and like Chris said, if you can replace that for $100 I would do that vs. spend my time on it. If you're using a "Heat Gun"......that must be some form of plastic cover. My son's JK had a...

Adding switches to factory dash panel

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079JJNV38/?tag=jkforum-20 I looked at this on Amazon. There is a 6 switch version for 159. I'll say this, I tend to be a brand snob, I put NightForce scopes on my good rifles and buy Sig Sauer or Daniel Defense or Benelli.....or I don't buy. On something like...

Genesis Off-Road Dual Battery System for JK

This is a very cool looking setup, would be awesome for hunting trips, will need to read more on this.

    Upgraded Braking System

I put these on my F150, good brakes, but unfortunately they aren’t significant upgrades for towing or bigger tires. Drilled and slotted are good for cooling them, but with bigger tires I don’t believe these will add more stopping power.

    Failed radiator at 48k

Just to make sure i understand. 1 your Jeep has oil in the Coolant/radiator , I’m assuming you opened the radiator cap and the oil had floated. They don’t inject Oil into the radiator coolant, I don’t mean to be rude, but that made me laugh, I wouldn’t tell my mechanic that, he’ll think less of...
