Oil change and new ticking

Throw a bottle of Lucas in the crank to see if the tick goes away. If it does, it's almost certainly something the previous owner did to try hide the issue. That said, at 70k miles I would be surprised to hear of cam issues in a 3.6L (not impossible, but doesn't follow the trend).

As soon as I heard the tick (about 140k miles) I made plans to get all the work done. Very happy with the independent shop who did the work. So much so, they did all the work this year replacing the cooling fan unit, water pump, resurfacing the heads, etc.

I guess at this point the entire top end of the engine is new.

How much that set you back? If you don't mind answering.

I often think about what potential future problems would cost me. 🙈

My 2014 JKU was sold today.

The 10 years I had with my Jeep will never be forgotten. My wife even told me earlier today, "Say goodbye to it for me." She has a soaker tub surrounded by the ducks its collected over the years, and, although she didn't drive it much, some of her greatest joys were those weekends with the top off, dogs in the back headed to the Outer Banks or down to Sunset Beach.

A lot of good times and a lot of folks here I "met" are informative, witty, experienced and, over the years, I read a lot of posts that really helped me out along the way. I appreciate having been a part of this group and, although the list of usernames would be too long to attempt, please know that I value each and every one of you and respect and admire what you all do for the Jeep community. Thanks for letting me chime in once in a while.

Unless they design a cabin that will allow a 70-year old, 6'6", 300lb guy with bad knees to stretch out a little, I don't see another Jeep in my future.

It's funny you say that because I was just thinking how much more stretch room my JK has compared to my patrol unit. It's like Ford intentionally made the Explorer uncomfortable to sit in for a shift, makes me miss the Charger.

I am not as tall but probably a little wider. I had a CJ5 that I did a "wheel house" notch on and put a flaming river tilt column on it, still not enough. The JKU is better but still cramped. I did my first "LA traffic" run in it about a month ago, went from Beverly Hills to Moreno valley IN TRAFFIC. I was tired for days.

Jeep needs to make a "real mans cab" maybe a special edition. Maybe Jeep can do a "big boy" or maybe a "real Man" edition. Imagine the hood decal for that. LOL

I would love a body-on-frame FSJ replacement... Wrangler-inspired capabilities, Ram 1500 cabin size, V8 powered, smaller than the new Grand Wagoneer (maybe close to Durango sized but with better dimensions for off-roading).

When it comes to cabin size and comfort, inches make all the difference in the world. Jeep could add 4" to the overall width of the body tub, and add a longer seat rail without much trouble and it would make all the difference in the world. If they can build a Challenger and Charger in a wide body, why not a Jeep?

Oh, and I got myself a GMC Sierra 1500 SLT loaded, 1 option shy of a Denali, and it's really comfortable.
