Well let's be honest. 99% of the snorkels on Jeeps are completely useless. And thanks to the Hagen–Poiseuille equation, we can show without a doubt that they rob your engine of power. I don't necessarily think they look cool, but it sure does get some peoples undies in a bunch. If I lived in a desert, I like the concept of clean(er) air being sucked in, but around here, just not needed.
But it would keep the mice out!
That assumes there's not a vehicle in front of you...
If your air filter is good, the dust won't matter as much as the decreased air flow from the super long air tube.
Or at least encourage them to get some pitons...
