Hi All, I currently using a 2” spacer lift on my 2016 jk. My last trip to the sand dunes I realized that my stock suspension needs an upgrade, I have about 105k miles on it. I am trying to decide on what lift to go with. I am thinking about Tera Flex, Rough Country, or BDS. I only want to go between 2.5-3.5 of lift. I am running 34” tires and with the trimmed fenders I have plenty of clearance for tire travel. Does anyone have thoughts on what lift is better.

Going with that high of a lift just make sure it has everything needed, adjustable control arms front, adjustable track bars front and rear.

If you was to put flat top fenders on you could get by with no lift or a 2".

Clayton Offroad the Forum sponsor has good lifts.

DO NOT get Rough Country. The name fits.
Spend a little extra and go with the Teraflex, BDS, JKS, Metal Cloak, Rock Krawler, or as suggested Clayton Offroad. They have some nice lifts.
Make sure to go with Fox or Falcon shocks.

I bought mine used with a 4" BDS kit with Fox shocks and stabilizer. Over bumpy roads its a little stiff but, it handles way better than you'd ever expect something with 35" tires to handle.

You can do up to a 2.5" lift without new control arms. I have the teraflex kit, and am happy with it.
Good to hear, did you have to get different rims? I am thinking that is the one that requires larger backing spacing. I’m also looking at the AEV 2” lift.

Thanks for all of your feedback about the lifts. I think I'm going to go with the 2.5 Tera Flex. With the fender trimming I did I don't need a bigger lift to fit the 34's I'm running. About the back spacing issue. I have 285/75/17 on factory 7.5 rims. I do have slight rubbing when I make an extreme right left turn is good. I think when I get an adjustable track bar for the front I will be able to center the axle better and not have any rubbing.

I have a 2.5" AEV lift with the geometry correction brackets and am very happy with it. Has 35" Nitto's on it. I've heard good things about the Teraflex kit, too.

Interesting that your size tire is fitting on the vehicle with stock wheels. I will have to change the advice I've been giving. Can you post of pic of the exact stock wheels you have please? Stock image is fine.

I ask for the simple reason, that when I tried to put on the slightly smaller, but same width tire of 285 70 17 on my 2009 rubicon U, they couldn't be put on the vehicle at all. I don't remember exactly what they impacted but it was the rear tires. Stopped operation and went back to old tires for a week until I got new wheels.

These where the ones I had, and I'm fairly certain that all JK wheels (except for the 16" basic ones) have that 7.5" width, and all have something around 6.25 backspacing, all the same. To me this means that there was a change of some sort in the rear wheel hub area that allows for wider tires on stock wheels, possibly when they switched to the 3.6... Hmm.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, been extremely busy at work. These are the stock rims on my 2016 Oscar Mike with 285/75/17 BFG KO2'S

We just picked up a 2015 Sahara yesterday. The tires are on the factory 18” rims. The tires are 275/70/18. They hit the sway bar on sharp left and right turns. My wife says she likes the tires and doesn’t want them changed out. We have the factory fender flares. I see yours are flat aftermarket flares bit do you know if the tires rubbed the fenders when off roading? Or did you swap the fender flares first?

I have a 2" Spacer lift right now so the tires never rubbed the stock fender flares. Also these are not aftermarket flares, I just cut and trimmed the stock flares.

You did a great job trimming them. How do you like the spacers? Did the change the ride much? Guess they are solid enough, stay in place and work when four wheeling? Never tried them before.

The spacers worked great to get the extra clearance on a budget. I go off road quite a bit, on trails as well as the sand dunes and never had any issues. I have about 105k on the Jeep now so it's time to upgrade the suspension.
