Got a 2012 Wrangler 2dr. Found a damaged shaft seal on the shaft from transfer case to front axle. It's the seal on the tease end. Is this task as easy as it looks? It looks like I take several bolts out and it separates.

Are you talking about this part? I bought one for mine but haven't gotten around to put it on yet. Looks like just removing the bolts and putting the new one on. I'm sure there is a you tube for repairing it.

Is your JK lifted and if so how much? When you get close to a 4" lift you need to get a different driveshaft especially if you off road.

Yes it is lifted. Was already when I got it. Not exactly sure how much but from what I have read about gauging the lift I believe I'm at least 4". From what I can tell the shafts were replaced (I think). Not sure if that is the part or not in the url. Looks like it could be. The damaged seal is at the transfer case where the shaft goes to front axle. Checked the tranny fluid last night and it is low. TC is prolly low to. Think I'm gonna go ahead and go total fluid change all around. Tune up also.

Got it in March with 64000 on it. Has almost 72000 now.

Can you post a picture of what your talking about, also this will give you a close idea on how much lift you have.

You might be better to get a new driveshaft for a lifted Jeep, looks like it's at to much of a angle and that's why it ripped and would probably rip again.

I'll have to check into that. My thinking is, wouldn't the angle be the same either way? The shaft will still have to installed into the same points of the TC and front axle. I'm not seeing how the angle would change.

It's going to have a different type of joint at the T-case.

The part that I linked to you in my Post number 2 is what will fix that.
Yea, I took a screenshot of it. I noticed they also had a complete shaft that wasn't a bad price. So it's not a smart idea to drive it right now then, is it? It has fluid in the tranny but it is low. Prolly low in TC to I'm guessing.

If your going to replace it or even if your just going to rebuild it just take the driveshaft out and put it in the corner of your garage.
