Hey all,

I replaced the door hinge bushings on my 16' JKU Sahara and took a ride with the doors of while I had them all off. When i put the doors back on all doors went in perfectly but i noticed the drivers side top hinge wasn't sitting flush together... but the bottom was. The door seemed to be in the right place and shutting fine so i figured it would pull into place when i tightened the nut, i was wrong. SNAP. the bottom threads snapped off into the nut. I ordered a new hinge from Jeep but id like to get it figured out before i install the new one. Its definitely closer but still not flush. I did take the door off and put it back on a few times to see if it would correct itself but no such luck.

The first pic is from before tightening it, it definitely looks like its not going in straight but it could be the angle. The second is the lower hinge, which is sitting flush.

I just went and looked again to take some more photos and checked out where the hinges connect to the body and it does look like the top one has shifted, am I correct? Also I've been getting a water leak through the door, I'm now assuming this is the cause, does that sound right?

Was this a problem before the new bushings? Or not sure?

Easy check to see if things are straight, take a straight edge that is long enough to span both hinges and see if they are just out of plumb.

There is missing paint around one of the bolts in the first picture implying that it has been messed with after leaving the factory floor, so it may just need to be loosened, squared, and then tightened correctly.

I'm pretty sure they don't just go on perfect naturally.

Not sure the issue, but it does seem that the hinge on the body is shifted, at a angle. I’d try to adjust it to be straight and see what happens. have you looked at the hinge on the door to confirm it is straight up and down? Not sure if you are the original owner, if not maybe the PO bent the hinge on the door a little and adjusted the body hinge to sole the issue?

In thinking about it more, and looking again, i bet the hinge shifted while i was banging out the factory bushings, im going to loosen the nuts and realign it and tighten them back up.
