Is a 4” lift necessary on 35” tires?

Most likely going to be running these in either 15x10 (-44 offset) or 16x8 (-6 offset) with 35’s. Will I need a 4” lift to clear the 35’s and also would 3.75 be enough backspacing or do I need 4.5”?
Thanks!

I can tell you this I have a big brake kit and 18" wheels on my Jeep and 1" or less clearance between the wheel and caliper. If you would ever plan to do a big brake kit on the front your 15" won't clear.

Don’t think I’ll be doing a big brake kit at some point but thanks for the heads up on that

My guess a 16" wheel would be real close for the stock calipers.

Also on another Forum I saw where a 15" steel wheel wouldn't fit but a aluminum one with a 3.75" backspace would.

This is just my opinion, but I think 15's look way too small on a 35 tire. I am running 17's and I think it is the sweet spot. That's just me though.

I heard that also which I found to be odd. Looks like 16” is the safe way to go

The 3.5" kit we make for the JK was made to fit 35" tires, so I would think 4" of lift from whatever manufacturer you're looking at would be able to clear 35's no problem. As for your backspacing question, truthfully I'm not sure how 15" wheels would work, as I know even Jeep themselves doesn't recommend using anything under 16", but for a traditional 17" wheel we recommend 4.75" of backspacing when using our lift kits, so hopefully that helps you out a little bit! I'll include some pictures of a JK with 3.5" of lift running 35's so you can see how it looks.

15s won't fit over the stock brake setup. My buddy tried that and they simply wouldn't clear.

For 35s though, you will want a 4" lift ideally.

Yeah that’s exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks for the help and also the link! I appreciate it

Yeah I think the reasons I even considered the 15’s was because of the 10” width and the -44 offset. I’ll definitely go either 16 or 17. Thanks again for your help as well

X2...
Also, fyi, I'm running BFG KO2 35s under the Pro-Comp 2.5" lift with Rancho 9xl adjustable shocks. I had to trim 1/4" off of the outboard bottom corners of the front fender liners. Customer service rep told me the springs are technically 4" over stock, but expect them to "droop" over time. That was over 4 years ago and I haven't noticed any less of a gap than what I "engineered" into it.

I have a 2.5 jks lift and grabber x3 in a 35 inch flavor. No issues with rubbing. Now I am still learning about JK's and their quirks. I've heard above 3.5 inches it is highly recommended to get a front drive shaft. Plus you will need a drag link flip kit if I remember correctly. And with that much lift adjustable control arms are a must. I'm sure there are other things needed to accomplish this the right way.

Ohhhhhhhk now hold up. Is there truth to all this extra needed for a 4” lift?

Ive also heard about needing a different front driveshaft and the adjustable control arms. The adjustable control arms are for the alignment.
