Just got my matte black grille in today. I saw a picture of a factory gloss black Wrangler with a matte black grille and I thought it looked good, so i’m copying it. On my factory grille I went with a one-piece steel mesh insert but with this matte grille I decided to try the mesh inserts. The ones I got seem to clip on pretty tight plus I added adhesive tape. The last six months I have kinda went bat-shit crazy spending money on my Jeep. Does anyone keep a tally of their Jeep spending? I keep a very detailed list of every single thing I do to my Jeep and what it costs. I try to always keep records for the future owner. I would love to know what everyone spends on Jeep goodies. Anyone willing to admit what they’ve spent?

I am a big fan of the matte black grilles, so I think that's going to look really good!

Make sure to post photos once it's installed.

On my old TJ I had an Excel spreadsheet with every single purchase I ever made for the Jeep, both parts and labor. Excluding the cost of the Jeep, I had over 45k into it in parts and labor alone!

I will definitely post pictures. I’m glad i’m not the only one keeping track of everything. I see so many people buying used vehicles (especially Jeeps) that have no idea of what modifications have been done and it’s not hard to take a few extra minutes and document stuff.

Thanks for telling me what you spent. I bought this JKU Willys new 1.5 years ago. I wanted the LAST JK built but they wouldn’t let me have it so I ended up getting the 5th to last one built (Supposedly). I wasn’t going to do a thing to it and just let it sit and maybe increase in value but I just couldn’t let it sit. In the last 6 months I have spent $12,000.

Do you have any pictures of your old TJ

Oh yeah, I've got an epic thread dedicated to it:

It's not until you actually start to add up the cost of everything that you quickly come to realize why some of these very "built" Jeeps you sale have very high asking prices.

That thread I linked to has a good break down of the cost (and photos) in the very first post.

That will look good with the matte black upgrade for sure.

I do not keep receipts, it slows down my lust and imaginations if is see how much I spent.

Not to be prejudice here but I love my babies (I have 3 wranglers and they are transgenders) and I want them to end up in a good home when it's time to part ways.

With that said, I only sell mine to a "jeep enthusiast" who thrives for sweat equity workmanship. Most of wrangler enthusiasts does not need receipts for they know if the rig is done right.

I went through the whole thread. Very interesting. I’m glad you have that. I enjoy reading stuff like that. I didn’t see any pictures from under the hood. Do you have any?

You know what, I never ended up taking any photos of under the hood before I sold it unfortunately. @toximus has it now, so maybe he has some photos.

Either way, it just goes to show that parts add up fast!
