I went round and round with the failsafe thermostats, they lock open in the upper range of the normal temps on a 3.8 liter.

No Idea, but I can tell you I've been wrenching on my 08 jeep with 230,000 miles for 17 years replaced engines and transmissions (on the third one now) and I have never come across that part. I bet it fell in there during a service, or was a plug in a new part that got left there.

I'm getting my 2008 sport JK ready to send to my son starting college, dug into the door to fix a locking issue and found this piece is broken. It doesn't appear to be in the exploded views I can find. It doesn't come on the latch presenter, I don't see it with the lock rods... Anyone know...
