Front Locker on a 2015 Willys

The JK30 uses a carrier with a slightly wider internal dimension vs the TJ/YJ D30. Where the OEM spider gears sits is ~0.040" narrower on a TJ. This means if you put a "TJ" lunchbox locker inside it, it will likely not operate properly as it will have too much lateral movement. You can run a TJ...

    Wiring Harness

That's not entirely accurate. The base harness is generally the same, but the TIPM, engine, and accessory harnesses that plug into the harness chain can vary greatly. A better question is "what are you trying to add?"...

    Sticker Build

I own a photography/media/graphic design side hustle, so it would be fairly easy to do with my print shop... I just need to find (or make) a vector file so I can scale it up how I want. I've got a buddy with an old school roll printer too that can print off some "test" runs on paper too.

What did you do to your JK today?

Seems like a worthwhile upgrade! I've never seen this before so I did some Google-fu... they (BK) say it's close to 83 lb savings over OEM calipers and rotors. You forget sometimes just how heavy 1-ton stuff is. To this day I'm still surprised at how light and easy to lift a D30 is. I can...

What did you do to your JK today?

I'm with you there, as someone who just spent $10,000's on a Hemi swap, I'll be damned if I'm spending $30 for some aluminum decor for the hood :ROFLMAO:

    Sticker Build

Looking good! I love a good "retro" build or at least an "inspired throwback". When we first got my daughter's Islander, I looked around for some retro/original Islander graphics but they were hit or miss and YJ specific. If I can ever find a good SVG file, I would toy with the idea of mocking...

JSS Battery Box - Install Tip Something I had not seen mentioned anywhere, but that seems like a good tip to share about the JSS battery box (and perhaps others) installation involves an unused, factory installed "ground lug" on the passenger side inner fender. If you try to install the JSS...

    Torque Converter Replacement Recommendations

I mean, every TC shop that I have worked with over the years splits them, rebuilds the clutch inside, inspects the vanes, etc. There are likely better options and worse options on the local level. Some of the national shops, like ATS, have a good reputation in the diesel world, though like...

    Sticker Build

Sounds fun! Nothing wrong with a simple build, especially a throwback. Now with that said, I wouldn't worry about "stock-ness" impacting resale value. It's a JK, one of millions total and likely one of tens-of-thousands built in that trim and model year. You could build a relatively "big" build...

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus a 2010 Islander side project)

I threw the front end back together just to check on fan clearances. As expected, the 3.8L fan is too thick to fit in place with the grille in the normal location. I already ordered a (used but like new) 3.6L "Pentastar" fan off of eBay. I got a low mile take-off because everyone locally wanted...

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus a 2010 Islander side project)

Getting the engine and trans completely in place... The JSS kit for the 8HP70 uses an OEM Ram trans adapter (the black bracket bolted to the trans) and the OEM Jeep rubber isolator: All of that gets bolted to the JSS transmission plate, which then gets secured to the OEM crossmember: My...

2008 JKU "Argenta" Build Thread (plus a 2010 Islander side project)

She's in!! Hopefully for good... Clearances are tight but we managed to get the engine and trans installed as a single unit without breaking anything... next up is mocking up the t-case to get driveshaft measurements.

What did you do to your JK today?

Generally not a problem, but like any question like this, it depends on rig, terrain, tire size, driving style, and willingness to partake in trail side repairs :)

What did you do to your JK today?

37”s are that odd “middle of the road” tire size… If you actually wheel trails where you NEED 37”s, they’re too big for OEM JK30/44 balljoints or inner C’s to reliably hold up long term. Then, by the time you reinforce, add bigger brakes, regear, add locker, etc. then you’re basically in UD44...
