    A Solid All Around Build?

And when you do add Fox shocks all around will you be moving shock mounts so that the compressed lengths will match the minimum bump stop requirements in order to maximize the suspension up travel? This thread is not about bolt on modifications. My question is about the refinements and fitting...

    A Solid All Around Build?

Here's a very specific question that might get us to what we both know is the type of guru thinking you are referring to. What is the largest tire with the least amount of lift that will also support a 12" travel shock that has its travel divided in half. 6" up, 6" down, both front and rear...

    A Solid All Around Build?

I think you are missing the point of the original question. How does one build up a JK in such a way as to maximize and balance the tire size, suspension travel, suspension performance, belly height, frame height, etc. I described this in some detail for a well built TJ that maintains the...

    A Solid All Around Build?

Care to expand on what a solid JK build is? Or was that a critique of a solid TJ build? The only thing truly unique to a Rubicon on either platform is the transfer case. And that it's only valuable if the 4:1 is desirable. Lockers can be added. On a JK, the auto disconnecting sway bar is a...

    JK Moab Backspacing?

It's being discussed in my build thread on the other site.

    JK Moab Backspacing?

As best as I can tell, all JK 17x7.5" Moabs are 6" backspace.

    JK Moab Backspacing?

That's the plan. I dented my spare recently. So making the move away from 16" is feeling more urgent.

    JK Moab Backspacing?

What would be very helpful for me is a pic of the measurement being taken with a straight edge across the back side. Then I can compare to my TJ Moabs and account for differences in wheel construction like the bead seats being different thicknesses. That potential .25" might matter in my case.

    JK Moab Backspacing?

Is anyone able to measure and confirm the backspacing of a 17" JK Moab? The internet overwhelmingly says all JK wheels are 6.25", but some say 6".

Talk me out of 4.88 re-gear

That helps some. The middle gears should be good, but the 1st and last are the most effected.

Talk me out of 4.88 re-gear

Knowing what I know from elsewhere, I would have to wonder why pushing the rpms closer to 3k at 75mph is a bad idea. Do JK owners suffer from the same problem of lugging their engines as TJ owners do?

Talk me out of 4.88 re-gear

    Now we are getting somewhere. NAG1/4.10/31" = 2766rpm @ 75mph NAG1/4.56/31" = 3077rpm @ 75mph NAG1/4.88/31" = 3293rpm @ 75mph NAG1/5.13/31" = 3461rpm @ 75mph NAG1/4.10/34" = 2522rpm @ 75mph NAG1/4.56/34" = 2805rpm @ 75mph NAG1/4.88/34" = 3001rpm @ 75mph NAG1/5.13/34" = 3156rpm @ 75mph...

    What gear ratio?

Talk me out of 4.88 re-gear

Grimmjeeper.com is a gear ratio calculator. Your transmission is the Dodge WA580/NAG1. Your true tire size is the center height of your hub from the ground x2.

Talk me out of 4.88 re-gear

Overdrive for your specific transmission? The point here is that this is a fairly simple math problem. And gear ratios are not very mysterious. A stock JK ran various gear ratios for it's tire and transmission combinations. Knowing what those were is a good starting point for deciding what to...
