Going crazy here. Have a P0032 that I can't get rid of. New o2 sensor, upstream right. Clear the code. Poof. Comes back instantly.
Swap my brand new sensor for the downstream left (exact same part number and not throwing any trouble codes.). Still, P0032. My mind goes to a bad wire or connection, however everything that I can see looks ok. Any thoughts on where to look/what to do for it?
I know the older JKs have a problematic ground hooked to the engine but if the 3.6 has something similar, I can't find it.
Fyi, this jeep has been parked for several years and served admirably as a yard Jeep and am just now getting time to try and get it back on the road. The CEL was on with this code when parked. Came on during routine driving, nothing weird.

The P0032 code indicates that the upstream O2 sensor is reporting a high voltage condition. Since you've already replaced the sensor and confirmed that the new one is functioning by swapping it with the downstream sensor, it definitely sounds like a wiring or connection issue.

Here are a few steps and things to check:

Wiring Inspection: Even if everything looks fine, it's worth inspecting the wiring more closely. Look for any fraying, corrosion, or signs of wear on the insulation. Pay particular attention to the connectors at both the sensor and the PCM; dirt or corrosion can cause intermittent issues.

Ground Connections: As you mentioned, check the ground connections related to the O2 sensor. On the 3.6L, the ground for the O2 sensors is typically located near the engine or on the engine block. Ensure it's secure and free from corrosion, as a poor ground can cause these kinds of issues.

Voltage Supply: Use a multimeter to check for the correct voltage supply to the O2 sensor. You should see around 5V on the signal wire with the ignition on. If you're not getting the correct voltage, there could be an issue with the ECM or the wiring leading to the sensor.

Check for Short to Ground: Using a multimeter, check if there is a short to ground on the O2 sensor wiring. This could cause the high voltage reading that triggers the P0032 code.

ECM Issues: It's not very common, but if all else fails, consider that the problem could lie in the engine control module itself. It might be worth having the ECM checked for any faults.

Exhaust Leaks: Though less likely to cause this specific code, sometimes leaks in the exhaust system before the O2 sensor can skew readings. Inspect for any obvious leaks that could be affecting the sensor.

Software Updates: If your Jeep's ECM hasn't been updated in a while, check for any available updates from Jeep that might address sensor issues.

Given that this Jeep has been sitting for a while, it’s possible that some connections have become corroded or damaged over time. Hopefully, one of these suggestions will help you nail down the issue! Good luck, and keep us posted!

Sounds like a ground issue or damaged harness. Someone recently just posted about some damage their harness had when the harness clip broke and it allowed the harness to get some rub-through damage. I would start with confirming all grounds are good, then going through the harness. It's unfortunately not an easy-to-access thing, so take you're time and work through section by section.

Thanks for the responses. If anyone has any specific ground locations to check, would be a great help.
