New to the forum and Wranglers (owned an '87 and '88 XJ back in the day). Been looking for a bit, and contemplated a YJ or TJ (even posted in the YJ forum about that), but ultimately went with a 2012 Rubicon, 41000 miles, manual, all stock as far as I can tell.

I'm new to off-roading in general, so I'm loving all the knowledge being shared in these forums. Looking forward to checking out the AZ trails.

Welcome and nice find! I'm back on the east coast, but spent 16 years in the East Valley. Although I'm happy to enjoy my summers and have seasons again, I do miss wheeling in the desert. There are lots of fun trails and lots of places to explore. If you snoop around on the TJ Forum and various FB pages, you'll often see rides being planned.

Thanks for the tip about the TJ forum and planned rides. (y)

Bleu Belle is a nice looking Jeep. I'm an 80s kid, so square headlights have some nostalgia for me:cool:

Yeah, I'm finding the amount of trails out here in AZ is amazing, should keep me busy for a while! Recently found out about Telegraph Line trail by Bartlett that just reopened after being closed for years due to wildfire damage. Hope to work up to that one some day. It looks really fun!

Ol' Bleu was a good rig - I certainly miss the simplicity at times. And same here - the YJ was the first Jeep I thought was cool. When I lived in NY as a kid, I recall, vividly, seeing one for the first time where a guy basically drove off the highway and only the beach dunes (back when you could simply "drive" over to them) and went around traffic. It wasn't long after that when a guy with a YJ pulled up on the beach with his surf fishing gear and I thought "man that's livin'!" haha

I'm all for #savingthesquares... heck, if there was a decent kit to do so, my JKU would already have squares! I think it was QT many years ago that had a concept vehicle in partnership with Jeep and it has modern square headlights. Maybe if I get bored when I'm all done with my current stuff I'll see what I can work up for fun...

There are lots of easy trails on the east side of town and going toward Payson. These are good for getting to know your rig and seeing what she can do, as well as what you're comfortable doing. If you haven't seen it yet, this book is awesome: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1934838284?tag=wranglerorg-20
