Anyone have experience inheriting an underseat lockbox with no key? Options: 1. drill out lock cylinder, 2. drill hole from top or side and flip open lock from inside, then cover the hole somehow 3. trash it as paying a locksmith probably more than buying a new one, unless it is full of cash the previous owner forgot……
Thoughts? I’m thinking drill out the cylinder.

That's a tough call. If it's a Tuffy or Bestop then I'd see what a locksmith would charge to open and cut a new key. Those boxes go for about $130 new. If it's a no name ebay or Amazon then drill it.

Drill lock. Then replace with a mailbox lock. Easy fix.
I don’t have a link but think I paid about $4 for the lock with 2 keys from Lowes.

Exactly. Cylinder locks, even good quality, are not expensive.

But note any manufacturer names or markings on the front of the cylinder before you drill it. Also measure the diameter and length of the cylinder- you'll need those to replace it with a comparable lock.
