i keep hearing a jingle (getting progressively louder) when im idle or tapping the gas and im pretty sure thats where its coming from after looking around a bit. any repair advice? cost range from experience?
it seems like its a bit of a bitch to get in there. i only briefly crawled under tho.. might just take her to the shop.Probably a heat shield on the converter is lose.
thats exactly where it is when its running. i just want to know if i need to replace the whole thing or notYou'll probably need to start it up so that you can hear the noise better when it's running, might make it easier to locate.

thats what i figured...If your converter is rattling, it's gone and needs to be replaced. The honeycomb-looking filters inside start corroding and breaking apart, which is where the noise comes from. Sounds like a beer can with some pea gravel in it.
As with everything else Jeep, if you don't install OEMs, you'll get a code. It can be cleared, but still....
