Hye all!

I'm in negotiation about buying myself a secondhand JK but I wanted some more feedback about the price they are asking.

  • Its a 2.8 CRD Sahara
  • Full leather seats
  • It comes with the hard top aswell with the soft top
  • 37.000 miles
  • Full automatic trans
  • Bluethooth/navigation/..
  • the light mounted at the top
  • removable towbar
  • and the beautifull color

They are asking 30.000$ for it. I love the car to pieces, but I think that a little bit too much and I would like to go to 27.000
I am buying the car no matter what, but since I would love to do some work work on it and save a couple $ ..

How much would you guys give?

Thanks !

Oh wow, this is a tough one.

I'm not even slightly familiar with how much used JKs go for over there in Europe, especially ones with the CRD option, as we never got those here in the U.S.

Do you happen to have any idea what used JKs typically go for over there?

I can tell you that over here that wouldn't even go for $25,000 (not even close), but the US Dollar is also different than your currency, and vehicle prices are obviously much different over here.

The good thing is that it looks to be very clean, and the mileage is low.

The four door JKUR's definitely sell for more money in Europe and even over here over the two door version. Adding the extra doors really does make a big difference in the price of a JK on this side of the pond.

I would also ask what year that JK is because it will affect the price based on the year.

I was waiting since 2003 when the rumors of a diesel Wrangler first started circulating after the Rubicon was first introduced. Never happened.....

Still never happened to this day in the JL's. Instead they give us a turdly 4-cylinder turbo charged engine option. What brainiac moron thought of that? I would go for a 5.7 or even the 6.1 or 6.4 HEMI V8 over a forced induction 4-cylinder gasser turd any day of the week.

Jeep division of Chrysler has NEVER figured out what customers want for an engine way back to the early 1980's.

If the 4.0L weren't such a good tractor motor to begin with, the brand would have been seriously damaged when they dropped the V8 in 1981 as an AMC subsidiary. They, (Jeep) never even offered a Peugeot diesel when AMC was in bed with the French, something they most certainly could have done a nice job on back in the day.

I would imagine that the VM Motori diesel has fairly good sales numbers in the Europe over the gas engine. I would think it adds to the base price of that JK over the gas engine a bit like it would if it were an option here in the USA FWIW.

Hye, thanks for the reply!

For a reference, the brand new JL starts at 45,000$. Normally the Jks go for around 25,000 $ (thats about 22,700 EURO) so I would say this jeep is overpriced for about 5000$ which I do think is a lot and the state of the car was not that good. Point made, I didn't buy this one and decided to look further for another one.

I found a JK from 2011 a Sahara edition 2 door. They Sell it for 20,800$ (The other one was almost 29000$). Its a 3 year difference yes, but the JK from 2011 was far better maintained than the 2014 one. So i'm leaning towards that one as it's cheaper (a lot).

A couple other observations:
Also is a Diesel on the 2011 you are now looking at? Here in the states there is a major change in 2011 to 2012 with the gas engine and the automatic transmissions upgraded to more speeds and output power. If it's a VM Motori 2.8L, I don't know if there is any difference between 2011 & 2014 in the EU version. Maybe the transmission has been upgraded between years f it is an automatic has changed possibly? These are things that make a difference on the price in my opinion more than the year of manufacture alone. 2011 was the first year of the upgraded interior package so that is similar between a 2011 & 2014 compared to 2010 and earlier, the interior is much more car like on the 2011+ and shows better. I don't recall the first year the JK was available in the EU if they were around in 2010 or earlier though without more research?

If we didn't get such a great deal on our 2009 JKUR the wife and I have, we would have held out for a 2012+ here in the states a little longer. We could still today sell the Jeep for what we paid for it back in 2014, is how tremendous the deal was for us, I think we saved over 12,000 US at the time, huge and quite spectacular price almost unheard of even for dealer only auctions wholesale at the time. That was a shocker and forced our decision to purchase on the spot, a decision we have never regretted for one moment!

To add on to this, and like Chris said you will have to adjust your money to the US dollar, but I got a fully loaded rare Jk Rubicon Recon (18,000 miles) with about 5-10k in mods on it for just over 32,000 USD.
