So I am wanting to upgrade my sound system but I am concerned about two major factors. One is I live in South MS where you can leave the house and the skies are blue and beautiful only to get 15 miles north and the bottom falls out and there you are, topless and soaked. It rains everyday during the summer, might only rain 5 mins, but that 5 mins can leave you with 5 inches of water. What do you suggest for sound? Also, what about security when the top and doors are off?

You have bigger problems. Letting the interior of your JK get rained on is going to give you some very, very serious issues at some point, believe me on that. That being said, I would be more worried about making sure your top is up when the rain is coming.

However, if you're not having that advice, you should invest in marine grade speakers such as these ones:

And a waterproof head unit, such as this one:

Marine grade / waterproof stuff isn't cheap, I'll tell you that much! Hopefully you've got a lot of money to put into your sound system (y)

Buy a TJ and get rid of your JK.
Only then you can do all the things you have mentioned.

I totally agree with you about getting interior of jeep rained on, however, here in South Mississippi, during the summertime, it's almost next to impossible to be prepared for showers, especially with a hard top. Thanks for the info

Okay, I did my sound system upgrade on my 2018 JK, and I used the Alpine X409 sound system. It is fully water-resistant. You have to buy the optional Sirius XM module to get Sirius, (about $35-50) dependant where you get it. I also put in an Alpine Subwoofer System too. Note the sound system I stated is NOT CHEAP. It is meant for the JK and for serious off-road use.

It has a ton of extra's for the off-roader in all of us, and it has both off-road and on-road navigation. You like the off-road side of it since it will take you to different "catches" that have been programmed in it.

Get it professionally installed, that way it is warrantied. Best Buy carries it as does 4WP Off-Road Stores.
