I have a strange Humpback Whale sound coming from engine bay......
Here is some info:
2008 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door Hardtop
The sound is very similar to the high pitch singing of Humpback Whales (at least what I saw on You Tube).
The sound is intermittent as to when it comes.
The sound seems to happen at 2500 rpm.
The sound ranges in intensity from barely heard to louder than my stereo at half max volume, seems to be speed related.
No sound parked regardless of RPM tested.
Seems to happen more/louder in the cold.
The sound is best described as a song, not a single constant pitch
Ive looked at:
Heat shields
Brakes / rotor / rotor shield
Checked for loose possible vibrating cables / possible vibrating metal in engine bay
Readjusted license plate to eliminate any vibration
Wiper arm
Important notes:
I recently had engine replaced and sound stayed the same
My best guess.........
1. A heat shield vibrating I don't know about or some other thin metal vibrating.
2. The front axle is dry/no grease and needs replaced.
Feel free to ask any questions, will update as I think of more useful information.
