Has anyone had an issue with the JK running fine, then suddenly not starting after stops? It has power, but will not crank. Then after a short time, it will start. Thanks.

What year is the JK?

Starters sometimes when they start going bad if they are hot they won't start. Batteries can do the same thing also, when it doesn't want to start check the battery volts.

Are you getting a clicking? Any fault codes stored? I've experienced a similar symptom when the starter was bad.

I have a 2018. It may be related to the battery. I will be on my second battery within 2 years. It is stock, Mopar, and with my warranty I have no choice. The darn Jeep needs to be towed to dealership for me to cash in the warranty chip. I asked Dealership Service people how to get it in neutral for tow guy tomorrow....seems easy enough.

There is ZERO clicking. It is almost as if there is a security feature gone haywire. I am taking it in next month for evaluation. Last time I took it in, the dealer said they could not find anything but I want to see evidence of diagnostics myself to see if they are running them. It is frustrating. Love this Jeep.

I think the starter is ok, but will definitely check the battery. Thank you

I am leaning on the it being the battery. It is so intermittent. The stock battery is a Mopar. I don't think it is very good. I had one replaced just little over a year ago, bad cell. I just came back from vacation to a dead Mopar battery, I mean dead. The AAA guy was so close to getting it to jump start...then it would not charge up to 12 volts. Perhaps that is it.

Do you have a little red light on in the upper right of the dash cluster when the key is on? A bad battery in the key FOB will cause the Security System to not let the Jeep start.

Your second battery in two years? Something seems off there. So the vehicle is on its third battery in the four years since it was new?

Remove both terminals from the battery. Negative terminal first for safety. Inspect for corrosion and clean as needed.

Next, reconnect the terminals, positive first. Make sure you push the terminals down on the posts until the bottom out before tightening.

I had this same starting problem on my Wrangler. Correctly tightening the terminals solved it.

Remember- The factory terminals MUST be pushed all the way down on the posts before tightening or they won’t grip the posts when tightened.

When my battery died, I didn't get didly click anything. Just key turn and nothing.

New Duracell "Batteries Plus" store (East Penn Manufacturing) and it's been golden since.
