Spal fan modification issues

Hi,

Mrs just bought a 2008 Rubicon 3.8 manual.
Original fan died from water ingress.
I replaced the fan with a Spal 16" 3000cfm fan.
Since replacing the fan I have this issue:
Start engine, turn A/C on and fan powers up in low mode. If engine is warm enough the fan starts in low without A/C on, as per normal operations.
After 30 seconds or so, MIL or CEL light comes on, fan goes to high speed. Scan of code indicates P0480, fan control circuit.
I have checked the fuses, checked both low speed and high speed relays.
Replaced the coolant temp sensor.

I've ran live diagnostics with JScan and the fan is kicking into high mode even when engine temps are as low as 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once P0480 code is triggered after 30 seconds of running, fan remains in high continually until you shut the engine off.

Has anyone ever had this before?

What could be triggering the ECU to send the high speed ran relay on when it's not hot?.

Any help would be appreciated.

Double check all your connections. Make sure all the pins are straight, not corroded and that they're all connected. Also make sure that you don't have a pinched or broken wire somewhere. When I replaced my cracked radiator on my Wj, I plugged my fan back in and the plug actually had a slight crack in it which caused the pins to not completely touch.

Has anyone done the 16inch 3000cfm spal fan modification to a JK.
I fitted one to my partners 2009 Rubicon with 3.8v6. The original fan died.
Since fitting the SPAL, we get a check engine light with P0480 code when we turn the low speed on with the aircon.
The ecu turns the fan to high and check engine light is illuminated.
The fan runs in both low and high speed modes.
I have checked the relays, the fuse, swapped the low speed relay, replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor and the fan low speed resistor.

The p0480 code says open or short circuit.

The fan is operating in both speeds.

Has anyone had an issue with the difference in resistance of the SPAL fans compared to the standard fan.

Maybe there is a resistance difference, which is triggering the ecu to set a fail condition.

I've cleaned all connections, checked the terminals, and nothing can be found.

No your the first Member that I know of that did that, most just replace it with a OEM part. These JK's are real picky on what's installed on them so OEM is the best.
