Hey everyone pleasure too get acquainted with you all.so here's my question replacing the upper and lower ball joints on my 08 wrangler x with an r.c. upgrade some people are saying I have too remove the axle shafts my brother says on his 2013 Rubicon it wasn't necessary. I been you tubing this and on A-1 Repair video they are saying from 07 to 2017 axle removal is NOT needed and others are saying it has too be done.im at a loss now ...thanks mike

No, it does not have to be removed. I highly recommend getting a good ball joint press tool to remove and install them. I would further recommend installing ball joint deletes if you plan to off road for any amount of time.

Thanks Jon for that info..I imagine people with a shop remove them for easier access. I would rather not remove the axles this way I'm not disturbing the seals ....thanks man have a great weekend

You may find, just depending on how difficult the old ones want to be and the type of ball joint press you get you may have to pull the shafts to access the inner C enough to do them though. I've done it both ways and it definitely is easier with the shafts out.
