Hi everyone. I've owned my 2018 JKU for a while but I still consider myself a noob when it comes to upgrades and modifications. We recently put in 20" wheels with 35" tires. I am concerned about the extra strain that this wheel and tire setup will put on the transmission. Question is, what can I do to reinforce or protect the trans ??

Nothing you can do for the transmission except for recalibrate your Speedometer so it will shift right if it's a automatic.

Also with 35's you will have to regear if you don't have at least 4.10 gears.

If it drives fine, you don't have to regear, though it may not drive the best.

But yeah, nothing you can do for the tranny, just make sure the speedometer is correct. That is what the jeep uses to determine shift points.

I am not impressed with this sentence.

You probably got the point, but essentially, you will know for yourself if you need to regear. It is suggested if you are going to take more than mild off-road that you regear, but if it is just a DD without many hills you might be fine with it.

Don't judge it until you get the speedometer fixed though.. and don't really drive it far until the tire size gets updated.
