Hey I have a 2011 JK and my engine blew up with a crack in the lower end, and the fastest I can get a brand new engine would be November 11th. The jeep had about 92k miles and spent most of its life in Arizona not very much rust underneath.

My main question is should I try and sell it as a shell? or should I go ahead with the new engine and try to sell it then?

Depends on if you're doing the work or paying someone else.

If you're paying someone else make sure all the warranties transfer to the new owner.

A running Jeep is always going to sell for more money...and faster. And like you're questioning...is that difference worth paying someone.

I'd do the engine swap myself and earn some sweat equity.
