Overheating problem

I have a 2013 Jeep unlimited rubicon . Here’s the story …. I’ve had it about a year . Last winter it had a clogged heater core . Had to have a coolant flush and the heather core flushed out twice before the heater would give off heat . When I had it done the second time I replaced all the hoses and the thermostat . Because it was also running a bit warm on the gauge when driving up hill. Jeep ran within normal range on the gauge after that and the heater worked . Now we are in summer and it starts to get warm again about 3/4 on the gauge . So I had a new radiator put in thinking perhaps it was clogged . I also had a temperature sensor replaced . Thinking it should be fixed I took a trip over to the coast and it still ran warm . Around 3/4 on the gauge . Then all of a sudden it shot in to red and started throwing cat codes and camshaft codes . So I turned the heater on and the car cooled right down . I limped it to my destination . Once I was there I cut off the exhaust at the cats . Then punched out the inside of them so I could get home and the Jeep could breath . Got home and had new cats installed and it’s still running 236-245f . I’m at a loss . I’m gonna try and burp the coolant once that funnel comes in from Amazon but I don’t know what else to do .

Sounds like air in the system.

There are countless threads in this forum dedicated to those who are or have experienced coolant/t-stat issues.

I lifted the front 6 inches and I think burping it fixed the rest of the issue . Max temp I’m getting is 230 now going uphill . I think it’s good . Thanks guys

Another known issue with the 3.6 engines is the cooling fans not going into high speed when they are required to do so.

You don't need a burp funnel, just raise the front of the Jeep up about 6". Then with the cap off let it idle and add coolant as it drops.
Ok took it to this local Jeep shop called Kyle’s jeeps and he burped it and switched me to the orange coolant . Also those new AutoZone camshaft sensors were crap . He switched them to oem and check engine light is off now and runs good as new for now .

That's the reason we say to use OEM whenever possible on electrical parts.. Glad it running good now.
