Opinions on selling my Toyota Tacoma to get a Jeep Wrangler?

I'm seriously considering selling my '08 Tacoma Double Cab TRD OR to switch over to a JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I've had the Tacoma for 12 years now and am looking for a change. Gravitating towards the unlimited JK line because I'd eventually like to throw an Ursa Minor camper top on the thing and vehicle camp in comfort. Any thoughts on making the switch would be appreciated.

Glad to know you're making the switch. You will have more fun with the Wrangler for sure.

Toyotas have always been good vehicles in my mind. However, the quality of them has gone down hill in my opinion as they continue to get newer. Maybe it's not that though, maybe it's just that everyone else has finally caught up, to the point where Toyota is no longer the world's most reliable vehicle, because now all the other vehicles are basically there as well.

I think a truck has a purpose, as does a Jeep. If you like hauling lots of stuff in the bed of your truck, the truck is a better choice. The Jeep however is going to be much more fun, there is no question about it. With the Unlimited model, you can tow a decent amount as well. Probably not anywhere near as much as your truck, but it can tow 3,500 lbs., which isn't bad at all!

I honestly don't think you'll regret making the switch!

Change is good. Tacomas are the most popular overlanders, Wranglers the most capable, the Ursa Minor top is one of the fastest campers to set up. I'm sure you'll love it. When not camping, running around doorless will be way more fun than driving around a pickup.

You might need to garage sale some of the stuff in the Tacoma and travel lighter.
