Hello everyone, I just purchased a 2016 JKU Saraha, it had rear differential damage and driveshaft damage. I am told the rear differential was replaced, which I believe to be true but tonight I was messing with it and jack up the rear end to confirm that it has a limited slip or open diff. Both tires turn the same direction but the opposite tire barely turns and sometimes stops. Is this what I should expect? I am going to pull the diff cover to look it over, but haven’t yet.

Definitely will. Unfortunately it is be a couple weeks before I get a chance to get into it. Ordering all new rear control arms, track bar and sway bar for it, so waiting for all of that to show up at well.

As long as you aren’t getting any gear whine or weird noises you should be fine til then. It sounds like you’ll be just fine but knowing for sure is definitely comforting.

@Willys14jk ...So finally had a chance to get the diff cover off and have a look at it. I am no expert but looked ok to me. Counted the teeth on ring and pinion and confirmed it has 3.73 gears, which is what the VIN says it came with from the factory, so just going to do the turns of the tire vs turns of the drive shaft for the front just to make sure nothing ever got changed up front, but feel much better that I think the rear end is good and the gearing matches the front. Here is some pictures, let me know what you think.

Yeah man if you had a problem it would be apparent. Your spider gears even look good. Mine looked like hell when I swapped in my locker. Make sure to clean off the housing and cover before you run new sealant on. Glad everything worked out.
