So I have the jeep at the dealership and they found metal in the oil pan, magnetic dip tube, the oil control valve screen, and a big chunk and shavings in the oil pan. They submitted to mopar lifetime warranty for new engine. For mopar the pictures and the chunk of metal in the oil pan isn't enough for warranty and have come back saying they're gonna break down the engine for further inspection. They will charge me 1k if nothing is found. I'm looking at the pictures and thinking that should be enough but I'm not a mechanic. What do yall think

Follow-up question. You say they'll charge you $1k if nothing is found (although they've already found something). What are they looking for and what happens if they find more? Is it then a legit warranty claim?

Second. I would ask to meet the mechanic w (ho will be turning wrenches and overseeing the engine tear-down (and rebuild, if it comes to that). I wouldn't be a jerk or come across as an asshole, but I'd certainly want to look him straight in the eye and ask him to take care of my Jeep as though it was his own and shake his hand.

@Anybodyhome appreciate your reply. You've hit the nail on the head, both the dealer and I said that excact same thing. Isn't that enough proof ? I feel like they're being dishonest and just going to deny the claim for no reason. I contacted a lawyer yesterday to be prepared once this happens. They replaced cams, lifters, and rocker arms last week but wouldn't look in the oil pan. The cams were chewed up bad and all that metal made its way thru the engine. I finally got them to ok removal of the pan when all that metal was found Including that chunk. Just frustrating how mopar vehicle protection is being run recently. I ll definitely take your advise on the mechanic, he seems to be knowledgeable and on the up and up, he went as far as showing there tech book explaining if metal debris is found than engine replacement is required
