It is a great place to explore & live TBH . We have many cannabis stores in Victoria . Lol I live in Langford which is on the outskirts of Victoria . Majority of places i off road . Lake Cowichan - 90 min drive Cowichan Valley - 60 min drive Jordon River - 60 min drive These are all on the island There are many more places up island I want to check out but with fire bans , everything is so dry right now that if there’s a gate it’s locked for now . I know of a few places that don’t have a gate so can still explore etc . To get to Vancouver Island it’s a 90 min ferry ride from Vancouver/ Main Land . If you check just below this thread there are sone pics of ferry I took when went to Alberta a couple weeks ago . Victoria proper is a full city . We have airport etc if wanting to fly in or out . Lake Cowichan is a big lake nestled right in the mountains .72 miles if you follow shoreline . Areas of the lake are crazy / creepy deep . Very clean as many rivers flowing in & out of lake . It’s more popular now compared to when I was growing up but still relatively quiet . In the village no Macdonalds but have a A&W. lol Def small town feel up at the lake . The trails are like a spider web in a few areas . Just go on forever and kinda loose track of time . I really do enjoy exploring with the Jeep. It’s a bit like you say “fug off” world as don’t even run into many wheelers . On the main logging road saw a few trucks but once got on a side trail heading up a mountain . Nobody :)
