JKU towing another jeep

Hey y’all,

I’ve heard mixed answers. So I wanted to ask.
My girlfriend has a 2014 Rubicon. It’s lifted 4 in with a teraflex lift, on 37’s.
I have a 2015 Sport on 33’s with a 2.5 rubicon express lift.

I wanted to see if it’s possible for the ‘14 Rubicon to tow/pull my ‘15 sport?

I would think you could, you wouldn't have any tongue weight on the JKU so that would help out. Not sure what the 2 door weights, and if it falls in with the JKU's towing capacity.

We both have 4 doors. Her ‘14 has less miles so we usually take hers out.
But when it comes to going to trails we are 2+hours from any so putting gas in both can get expensive.
So the though process of her Jeep pulling mine will save a buck and we can take turns driving on trips.
The concern is the tow capacity for hers is 2,000-3,500lbs and my JKU sport is about 3,700lbs

My thinking is when they talk about towing capacity they are taking into consideration tongue weight also. But I could be wrong, hopefully others will have a opinion also.
